All in all, the extensive censorship adds up to a whopping six minutes of missing footage. A longer piece of film including a "boss fight" was also removed. Especially not when they scream into the camera in one of the countless jumpscares. There are still plenty of zombies, but not in close-ups. Instead of an Alien movie without aliens, this here is a Resident Evil movie without zombies. While in part 4 there were only a few minutes of comparatively harmless violence (see comparison) and in part 5 only retouching of Soviet symbols (see comparison), a similar paradox as in Alien: Covenant is revealed here. While parts 4 and 5 of the series didn't have to suffer too many censorship interventions, the final part of the series was once again subjected to a large-scale censorship attack. In China, the responsible censorship authority, the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television, also seems to have been unimpressed by Anderson's film. Anderson delivered a rather average final film of the undead series with Milla Jovovich.
